Katrina has been reappointed as Chair of the NSW Capital Markets Committee, with a mandate to promote property as an investment asset class and the integration of the capital and property markets. The committee is instrumental in the development of the NSW Capital Markets Events series, bringing leaders in the property sector together to share their knowledge of the industry.

Richard McOmish – Victoria
Richard has been appointed to Social Infrastructure Committee which represents members investing in and partnering on significant social infrastructure development in Victoria, including social housing, health, education, childcare and other property that supports the development of important social services.

Rachel Brook – Queensland
Rachel is joining the Regional Sunshine Coast Chapter of the Property Council, representing the interests of the Property Council’s diverse membership on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Napier & Blakeley hosted one of forty-two yachts sailing on a course around Green Island and St Helena Island on beautiful Moreton Bay.  “Our” yacht for the day was the stunning Kerumba, a 50 foot racing yacht,  which has successfully completed the Sydney-Hobart and Brisbane-Gladstone races.  

As always, the weather in Queensland was perfect with a cloudless blue sky but unfortunately not enough of a breeze for a boat of our racing pedigree.  The handicapping meant we were last to start, almost 45 minutes after the early starters, and with the help of the fantastic skipper and crew plus the N&B group as strategic ballast, we came in a gallant 5th overall.  As our skipper pointed out, a longer race and we would have been first without a doubt!

This is a unique opportunity for client entertainment, business networking and relationship building, whilst also making a difference to desperate kids who are doing it tough, by raising money to build a home for homeless young people.

The event was well supported with over 400 people and 30 yachts participating with over $130,000 raised for homeless young people.

We raced on the Margaret Rintoul V, a 61 foot luxury Maxi Sailing Yacht.

We boarded at King Street Wharf and cruised over to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) at Rushcutters Bay to enjoy lunch and welcome by Malcolm Tyson (CEO of Colliers) and Kate Mills (CEO of Property Industry Foundation).

Team NB left the dock at the CYCA at 2pm and sailed out on to Port Jackson to undertake some light crew training and tacking practice.  Racing started at 3pm from a start line off Point Piper followed by two laps of the eastern harbour via Lady Bay, Shark and Clarke Islands, Obelisk Bay and finishing back off Point Piper.  Margaret Rintoul V sailed extremely well belying her 20 year old design; however the performance handicap system did not favour us, with a rating reflecting her past racing successes.

Winner of the day goes to Matt McQueen for successfully tacking multiple times with a full glass of wine and never spilling a drop, and the luckiest man of the day to Peter Osborn for apparently losing his phone overboard during one tack, only to discover it still on the deck on the next tack.

Our thanks go to the crew of Margaret Rintoul V for an enjoyable, safe day on the harbour and reinforcing the message that even a bad day on the water (it wasn’t) is better than a good day in the office.

We raced on ‘Margaret Rintoul V’ which is 61 foot maxi cruising and racing yacht. 

We fed and watered our clients (crew) on the way to Middle Harbour Yacht Club and then commenced our practice drills before the race – all under the professional guidance of our skipper and crew.

Although it was beautiful weather, the light 12 knot wind didn’t help us in getting into a winning position, though it was still an excellent day of sailing with the bonus of a pod of dolphins joining us.

The after party on the beach is always a great opportunity to connect with others in the race that include many of our clients both property and development, and to plan how to get over the line 1st next year!

Katrina started with Napier & Blakeley in 2007 as our Financial Controller, with over 20 years experience in accounting and finance roles at management level in SMEs. 

Katrina works across the whole Napier & Blakeley business and works both internally with our business units and externally with our many and varied clients. She has a particular focus on processes and procedures to improve our efficiencies of operation and client focussed delivery and add value to the business at every stage of our operations.
